Dr. Kajitani obtained his Medical Degree from Hokkaido University School of Medicine in Sapporo, Japan, in 1985. He is board certified in Thoracic and General Surgery, both in the U.S. and Japan. Dr. Kajitani has trained at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Yokosuka, Japan, Hokkaido University, the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, Oregon Health Sciences University, and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He also trained with Dr. Albert Starr, co-inventor of the artificial heart valve, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Portland, OR. Dr. Kajitani has research experience in transplants, laser surgery and surgical biomaterial. Special interests include the area of minimally invasive heart valve procedures, which will be utilized in his current practice. Dr. Kajitani has been in private practice in the areas of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery since 2002, both in San Diego and Little Rock.
