Position Summary:
This clerical/service position requires an employee who will aid in the smooth operations of the Medical Records Department. They must be able to respond and interact with physicians, the public and patient care team members in a courteous and collaborative manner.
Work Schedule:
Forty hours per week, Monday through Friday. The hours per day may vary in order to accommodate the census needs of the facility.
Primary Duties:
- Maintains a record of all completed record requests.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patients medical records.
- Ensure release of medical records in a timely manner when legal authorization is present.
- Merge patient accounts that are assigned multiple account numbers.
- Cancel deceased patients appointments and flag as deceased in the system.
- Sorts and routes office mail daily within the department.
- Assist with other duties as requested, including coverage in other areas.
- Possesses interpersonal skills necessary to interact with people.
- Free to operate within established policies and procedures.
- Skill in handling paperwork adequately.
- Ability to organize time and tasks efficiently.
Qualification/Specifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Licensure/Certification: None required.
- Experience: Prior experience in medical office preferred..
