Position Summary

The Regulatory Reporting/EMR Analyst role is responsible for assisting with the design and methodology for reporting metrics for quality and regulatory programs, including the Eligible Hospital Promoting Interoperability Program, CMS Hospital Quality Reporting System, Electronic Clinical Quality Measures and Merit Based Incentive Payment System as well as other government programs. Work extensively with clinical systems, quality, ambulatory, and physician leadership to accurately configure the system and improve performance across measures.

Primary Duties

  • Data collection, metric validation, performance and health outcome measurement, benchmarking, stratification, and visual presentation of analytic results
  • Monitor progress of hospitals and clinics on meeting the requirements necessary for CMS, PI, eCQM’s, MIPS and other regulatory reporting agencies.
  • Supports and serves as a liaison for hospital-wide EMR, including participating as member of EMR implementation/documentation/testing/training team (i.e., developing best practice, policy/procedures).
  • Collaborates closely with – and communicate between – IT leadership and the clinical community to provide leadership for clinical systems projects and initiatives. Educating staff on documentation that is required to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze work flows and understand policies, procedures and constraints of the clinical or business operations related to reporting requirements.
  • Develops specifications that will support the design and successful implementation of clinical applications across the organization as related to regulatory requirements.
  • Makes accurate recommendations that will inform purchasing decisions for new clinical systems, technologies and hardware that meet organizational standards.
  • Ensures new or modified clinical information systems maintain patient confidentiality and privacy, in accordance with HIPAA and Joint Commission.
  • Provides writing and documentation support to capture business area reporting requirements.
  • Assists in the development of policies and procedures for the usage of clinical information systems.
  • Develops and implements auditing and review processes to ensure project goals and objectives are met.
  • Delivers regular reports that clearly communicate the results and/or progress of regulatory initiatives.
  • Collaborate with key clinical, business and IT partners to identify analyses and reports needed to inform executive leadership’s strategic regulatory decisions and initiatives for the organization.
  • Through analysis and collaboration with analytic and clinical teams, the analyst will help to demonstrate AHH’s ability to improve population health clinical outcomes and healthcare utilization with regulatory submissions across multiple federal and government programs.

Qualifications/Specifications

  • Education: Bachelors degree, RN certification, or equivalent professional-level experience required.
  • Licensure/Certification: None required
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in healthcare-related field. Experience defining reporting requirements and developing reports preferred.  Experience working with clinical staff preferred. Experience with regulatory reporting required.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Awareness of current IT security standards, applicable privacy laws, etc. Experience evaluating and implementing informatics systems.
