Patient Advocate – FTD

The Patient Advocate will work directly with the Director of Customer Experience to assist with patient and family concerns. The Patient Advocate acts as an intermediary for patient relations and customer experience. Serves as liaison between patients, their families, and the organizations departments and administration.

Work Schedule

Position is for full time day shift. Hours are negotiable and may vary to meet hospital needs.

Primary Duties-Patient Advocate

  • Greeting patients, families, visitors and staff upon arrival.
  • May perform data research as assigned by the Director.
  • Assists the Director with tracking various advocacy activities and distribution of materials and reports related to patient advocacy.
  • Responsible for assessing and maintaining department supply inventories.
  • Keep up to date information on patient status and communicate information to family members regarding patient status and visiting opportunities.
  • Relays patient concerns to hospital administrators on behalf of patients and their families.
  • Directs inquiries and complaints to the appropriate hospital / clinic staff.
  • Explains the patient flow process to patients, their families, and visitors.
  • Provides hospitable services to customers in waiting areas.
  • Assists the Director with rounding for new in-patients.
  • May assist with educating patients about the Patient Portal program.
  • May perform other duties as requested or assigned by Director of Customer Experience.

Primary Duties Volunteer Coordinator

  • Oversees implementation of volunteer program outline including:
  • Volunteer orientation
  • Dress code and uniform selection
  • Ensures appropriate orientation to departments the volunteers support.
  • Maintains records of volunteer hours.
  • Develops and organizes volunteer recognition programs and events.
  • Organizes and attends volunteer meetings.

Qualificatons/Specifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Licensure/Certification: None required, however a basic knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 year related work experience in medical field, preferably in hospital setting or 2 years of customer service experience required. Must have proficient computer skills.
