This position orders supplies from suppliers, works with hospital support services on special projects and performs a range of support service activities, enters materials management/purchasing/contract information into the hospital computer system. As needed this person also supports the general stores warehouse.

Work Schedule

Forty hours per week, Monday through Friday. From time to time the number of hours per day may vary in order to meet hospital demands.

Primary Duties

Purchasing:

  • Places orders to vendors via fax, EDI and telephone in compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Works closely with the Accounting Department to ensure accurate, timely and thorough payment of vendor invoices.
  • Cooperates with hospital personnel in a manner that both allows timely and complete ordering of supplies and complies with policies and procedures.
  • Enters purchase order information into the MMIS system accurately and timely.
  • Enters and maintains item master information that is consistent with established contracts.
  • Reviews and maintains open order report in a timely manner.
  • Able to identify cost savings opportunities that support established contracting strategies.
  • Participates in product standardization and evaluation processes.
  • Ability to identify alternate suppliers and/or products as needed to support clinical needs.General Stores:
  • Assists the hospital departments with supply deliveries.
  • Receives incoming shipments according to policies and procedures, as needed.

Qualifications/Specifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Two years of college education preferred or equivalent experience desired.
  • Experience: At least 2-3 years purchasing experience required, preferably in a health care environment.
